mabel says: P.S. I think I managed to get past the sour at "Sour Fest" -- think small but numerous samples at one tasting. Hold one and you're guaranteed to change your perspective on sour beers (or pickle your liver) so by the end of it you'll find out how you truly feel about them... 180 months ago
mabel says: Awesome article, you captured more than a few points I can relate to too. (Well, maybe not the sitting in Santa's lap with beer part, but still... ;) ) Let us know if you're ever passing through Ontario in your beer-scapades, we'd be more than happy to welcome a fellow beer traveller! 180 months ago
Aggy360 says: Wow, your story of blooming from a beer virgin to someone who has made a 'few' trips around a bottle was put together well. Thank you for your story. Being a newbie myself, I am inspired to put myself out there more and work towards that goal of knowing the ratebeerians, the brews, the hops. Even though I am male, I totally connected to your story. Thank you. 180 months ago
illinismitty says: Since you are no longer a Beer Virgin, shouldn't you change your username to BeerSlut72? 180 months ago
mctous says: Being firmly in the XY camp, I am testosterone-laden, but I still do not like guezes. I regard Belgian sours as artisan vinegar. However I am an unabashed hop-head. I'm drinking a Dale's Pale Ale as I type this. Hops are like single-malt Scotch: you either like them or you do not. I would agree that a "virgin" approach to new beers would benefit all Ratebeerians. 180 months ago
jcwattsrugger says: Great 'story'! Glad you're enjoying the journey. It started when the timing was right for you. Mine started when I was 45, then joining RB 3 years later. Oh the beers I had but didn't write notes for... It was fun reading your article and 'relating'. cheers, john 180 months ago
tronraner says: Great article, Dawn. A craft beer coming-of-age story, brilliant. None of us were born beer geeks; finding our way deeper and deeper into the beer world is something all of us can identify with. Touching, in a way. =] Damn, I'm starting to feel like I'm writing a book review. Good job! 180 months ago

hotstuff says: Dawn, damn girl can you write an article or what? You held my attention throughout the entire article. You go girl!! That was awesome writing! Thank you for mentioning myself and the other female RBer's. That was cool! Florida's loss is the Midwest's gain! 181 months ago
BeerVirgin72 says: Thank you Sunshine. That means a lot to me coming from you. A true beer gal and a true writter! 181 months ago
Beershine says: Dawn, thank YOU for sharing your bodacious beer karma with the rest of us! Being "like a Virgin" is a gift and a state of mind we all should cultivate more. Florida will miss you--we will be worse off without you and Brian. But eventually we hope see you in the Midwest. Or at a sour festival? ;) Thank you so much for sharing this lovely article and I hope you write more! 181 months ago
