cbkschubert (1423), I-10 exit 299 (under bridge), Arizona, USA Dec 30, 2007 On tap @ Alcatraz (Anahiem) 10/07 - This beer was called Pudgy Monk Porter (5% ABV) when I had it. It may be a different beer, but I will rate it here until told different. Pours a light brown color with a small light tan head. Aroma and flavor is light roasted malt. Nothing fancy here. Thin mouthfeel. Decent beer. Worth a try. If this is a different beer, please let me know. jedimasternick (89), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jul 20, 2003 The Alcatraz Porter is actually extremely close in odor and taste to the Alcatraz Stout. Drinking the two side by side is confusing, with a glance trhough the Porter's glass being the only distinguishing feature (the Stout is blacker than black). The Porter does have less of a chocolate taste and is more mild. hotstuff (2964), Indiana, USA Jun 23, 2003 When poured, this Porter had a small light brown head with large sized bubbles that quickly diminished. The lacing was fair with this brew and the body was brown in hue. It had a mild coffee aroma and a medium coffee flavor from start to finish. The taste was smooth which I enjoyed very much. thedm (3289), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 22, 2003 I spoke with the brewer of this fine porter at the Brew-Ha-Ha in Indianapolis. He called it the "Prison Porter". This brew poured a large head of fine to large sized light brown bubbles and a dark black brown bosy. It had a strong malt coffee aroma and a medium strength coffee flavor. It was very smooth and was my favorite beer at the event! I enjoyed talking with their brewmaster as I tatsed this fine porter. It was really nice to be able to call his beer "the Best" just after I was caught saying that another brewer's beer was the "Worst"! Needless to say he didn't appreciate it!
