acrdz (3885), Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bottle pours dark brown amber with little head. Sweet maple and caramel malt, very low hop presence in the nose, mostly a maple syrup, brown sugar, plum and nut aroma. Similar flavor - sweet, malt-forward, light notes of nuts, fresh tobacco and wood along with a more pronounced maple malt sweetness and dark fruit. Ok beer overall, really a surprise after seeing the ratings. brewblackhole (1178), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA May 2, 2008 Fruity, alcohol , whopatuee like aroma, that fades pretty fast taste is like a drink , made of vodka and caramel apple essence, with dings of hops in the fade. Not a momentous tasting brew, but I certainly enjoyed sipping it during a cold rainey night jcr (742), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Dark copper pour. Short, off-white head. Strong aroma of lacquer and alcohol with hints of molasses, juicy fruit gum and brown sugar. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderatley bitter with an hint of brett. Strong alcoholic, off finish. Medium body. Very little carboantion. Odd flavor. Odd finish. Not enjoyable. Braudog (3453), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Apr 21, 2008 22 oz’er. This introduces itself with a nice giant, poofy top over a dark copper ale. The aroma has got an American hoppiness to it, but also hints at a bigger monster beneath. Indeed, right on the first sip there’s an impression of rich malt, stinging flavors of dark fruit and brown sugar, topped off with a nice citrusy top. Decent. (#3427, 4/21/2008) jsquire (1811), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2008 I bought this 2006 bottle from Beers of the World and promptly drank it. It poured a deep amber color with a foamy beige head. The nose had a pinching barnyard funk and sour cherry tang about it. It tasted like it had Brett in it to me. Sour cherries, moldy hay, rotten grapefruit rind and stale grass clippings. Not what I look for in an old ale. But I did drink the whole thing sitting there playing cards.
