sstackho (176), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 21, 2008 12oz bottle purchased from LCBO. Pours a clear, dark copper with a big head due to a poor pour, but the head goes away pretty quickly. Little lacing. Reasonable malty aroma. Flavour is malt - and that’s about it. Finishes a bit thin. I’ve not much of a bock fan, and this one doesn’t get me any closer to changing my mind.
can8ianben (557), Pasadena, California, USA Dec 30, 2007 Seems like a typical bock, I’m not a huge fan of the style, but what is present here is a ton of rich dark malt, and very little hop flavour. seems rich and smokey without having a heavy body like a stout. More on the red side than the brown or black, not the beer I was hoping for, but still an interesting sample. mabel (1133), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 26, 2007 [714-20070928] Tap @ C’est What 2007 FOSB (Toronto, ON). Faint doughy bread with apple spread aroma. Clear, red brown body with a small medium-lasting creamy white head. Strange Belgian wheat background flavour, grainy fruit foreground and a hint of apples. Medium body. Interesting to try. yarry (329), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2007 341ml bottle, 6% a/v
Pours a light cola colour, with a nice tan head. Aroma is very surprising, very fruity with some malt mixed in. The taste is also very fruity and mild malts, with an aftertaste which is very earthy, nuts being the largest component. Very nice beer and very surprising taste and smell considering the appearance. Gpnterojd (127), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Oct 31, 2007 Deep almond skin colour. Small head. Very nice, light aroma of honeydew and banana. Flavour is of mild roasted malts and fruit -- dates come to mind. Nutshells / wood flavours are also present. Slightly bitter finish. Well done, but possibly a little too ’ripe’ tasting -- better balance would be welcome.
