LordCrabapple (68), Merseyside, England Jun 15, 2008 Caught this fellow after bagging a few birds in the Lakes. A fine stout, I would say, even though Lady Crabapple is the expert on such matters. scotty (712), Scotland May 31, 2008 Very dark ruby, almost opaque, with an off white head...perhaps a bit on the thin side, but thats ok as it lasts well down the glass. The nose is an amazing mix of coffee, malt & spice...lovely stuff. Smooth and malty, with a pronounced coffee flavour, the finish goes on for ages...........! Bottled version, Asda Carlisle. DruncanVeasey (1499), Burbage, Germany Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Apr 24, 2008Friday afternoon session, Cask, Covfest ’08, and listed at 6.05%. Over a session, that 20th of a percent could make all the difference. 13th beer of the afternoon and my notes read, ’Tup. Ah. Bit pisd 2b honest but silky/smoky Nic choc charcter. Ckoc w red pep fru. Mm 15’. I think that meant this was a tasty, well-conditioned, chocolate-accented stout with some background fruitiness, and it was time to go home and wriggle around on the carpet with my legs in the air. chimp_lechamp (322), glasgow, Scotland Nov 10, 2007 cask troon beerfest. black sudsy roasty smokey creamyness from aroma. tasteless lacks character, watery mouthfeel tastes burnt toasted and nuts. not as grand as the smell boasts. Magic_dave6 (3385), Glasgow, Scotland Oct 8, 2007 Cask at troon beer fest 07. Aroma is roasty malts, hints at dark fruit and quite a bit of tar. Taste is similary roasty malts, again alot of tar and not the tart beast the fellow at the bar told me it was going to be.
