Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA

12 oz bottle into a shaker. I was unaware when drinking this last night that it was an imperial. Very nice floral and citrus hop dominated aroma. Simple, dark golden pour with average carbonation and an impressive fluffy white head. Extremely flavorful hops, yet still soft and not strongly bitting. For a 9 abv, the alcohol is extremely well hidden (one of the reasons I was surprised to see this was an imperial). Medium bodied and soft on the palate, not overly carbonated like some pales. Overall: a great IIPA; delicious.

Tasty beer, no doubt, but this is a powerful sipper where the sweetness and sticky hops make it tough to drink more than one. 12 oz pours reddish-orange with nice-looking, fairly persistent head. Nose is sweet, floral and fruity (grapefruit and oranges with fruit punch notes) with a backdrop of resinous hops. Tastes sweet, nearly cloying, and immediately carries with it a serious, sticky and lasting bitterness. Lots of flavor and virtually no subtlety. But forget that, did it taste good? Yes.

Hops are superior in taste and smell. Nice bitter sweet balance. The sweet is like fruitcake, so not to sweet. Has a spicy hop that will linger yet make you thirst for more. The head is gold, continuous and steady, very refreshing. Would do well with aged swiss cheeses.

Poured into a pint glass. Goldenrod body sits under a one finger white head. Head reduces to a moderately large halo and leaves some sitcky resiny lacing on the glass. A quick swirl actually reconstitutes the one finger head. Piney citrusy hops on the nose, grapefruit, grainy malt Taste follows the nose, also maybe some apricot, brown sugar. Nice oily hop explosion here, but not overly bitter. Carbonation is perfect, finish is drying and entices the next sip, and alcohol is well hidden. Very easy to drink, just beware the 9% abv.

dogfish is alway impressive and this flagship ipa is loaded with spicy hops and lots of malty goodness.If you haven’t tried I suggest finding one or four at any cost today.
