Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

brown body with small white head that goes quickly, leaving almost no lacing. Roasts dominant in the nose with hints of dark fruit Taste has extreme roast, so roasty that it’s wood-tasting. Palate is moderately thin and a little lifeless. Pretty one-sided in roast, maybe with a little fruit.

Thanks emacgee. This is a very solid brew. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is surprisingly sweet, smells like vanilla, choc and caramel with a slight oak in the background. Taste is very smooth, more vanilla and a slight licorice taste. Milky smooth on the palate with a very sweet vanilla finish.

This beer pours jet black with a robust beige head. Some lacing is left behind as the head slowly drops. The aroma is that of dark chocolate and roasted malt, with faint vanilla notes. The flavor has roasted malts and oak, with some licorice. As the beer warms a slight smokiness comes out. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. There’s a nice lingering hop bitterness, but none of the expresso astringency that one finds in some stouts. This is one goes down easily, perhaps too easily. However, at just 5.2% ABV that’s not too much of an issue.

12oz bottle. Lush aroma. Melted mix of bittersweet and milk chocolate, vanilla, slightly charred, wet wood, red liquorice and a bag of freshly roasted coffee beans. Pours dark, nearly opaque brown with a dark khaki head. Toasted (but not charred) malt, dry wood and dry vanilla dominate the flavor. Too much of the rich aroma is lost to a dry graininess on the palate. Medium mouth feel with a very average, dry, malty finish. Thanks David!

Thanks to oldstylecubfan for this. 03/08 bottle. Pours blackish red with a thick tan head. The aroma is vanilla, dry coffee, roasted grain and a hint of oak barrel. Taste is dry coffee stout like with hints of vanilla and roasted grain. Finishes a little dry. Tasty stout. I think I would have liked to have seen a little more oak influence, though.
