Snojerk321 (706), San Diego, California, USA May 2, 2008 22oz bottle from bottle trek. This is one of those tasty inoffensive porters that you can’t really give a bad score, not really complicated. Sweet toffee and chocolate, molasses and some late toastiness, pretty tasty, soft and smooth. kramer17801 (1739), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 25, 2008 12 oz bottle, via 5000. Pours a nice clear mahogany brown body with a frothy one finger light brown head with amazing retention. The nose is lightly roasty and chocolaty with a slight earthiness and some light hops. A little coffee and nuttiness as well. The flavor is a little overly roasty, running into the realm of astringent up front. There’s minimal chocolate malt showing through. A fairly heavy handed hopping level yields a heavy bitterness compared to most in the style. The green slightly metallic hops don’t seem to play well with the burnt astringency to me. Lingering bitter finish with some cola notes. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, off to a good start, but in the end kind of let me down. Still, within the little sphere of organic beers it was decent. dmruth (14), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 23, 2008 1 Pint, 6 FL OZ. (2008) Solid black body with a light chocolate aroma. There is minimal head and rather high carbonation for a stout. The flavor is complex, a bit bitter, with a hint of alcohol. The beer is a bit weak on the tongue. ABUSEDGOAT (1784), California, USA Jan 14, 2008 Black body with a light tan head. Aroma is chocolate with light coffee and roast. Medium to light body. A decent porter but not all that interesting. bu11zeye (3443), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 9, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma of roastiness, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee with nice carbonation in the mouthfeel.
