patrick767 (1312), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 14, 2006 draft - Thin, long lasting head, some lacing. Aroma of roast malt and bourbon. Pours opaque, pretty much black. Tastes lightly carbonated with a nice, full body. The malt and hops are well balanced. Roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate flavors as is typical for the style, but the barrel aging makes a huge difference as the bourbon flavor really comes through. Very smooth, nice and warming, and leaves a pleasant malty finish. The bartender tells me the alcohol content is over 10%. If that’s accurate, wow, it doesn’t taste like it. Well done. thedm (3289), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 12, 2006 Served in a snifter draft at the brewery for $3.75. This draft brew poured a small thick foamy dark brown colored head of finely sized bubbles that were long lasting. The body was pitch black with no visible carbonation. The mouth feel was initially tingly with a hop coffee rush and a lingering mild tingly coffee finish and a strong bourbon vinous note in a thick roasted malt body. Excellent brew! Excellent flavor in an enticingly nice looking body with an excellent thick clinging lacing. The aroma contained mild coffee dark roasted malt notes. Its only short coming is its less than intense aroma. Still, an excellent brew! Well done Todd Grantham! hotstuff (2964), Indiana, USA Jan 10, 2006 Rated at MABC and served in a snifter. Small tan creamy and smooth head that mostly diminished with beautiful lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Nose was malty, chocolate, coffee, roasty, and bourbon. Flavor was absolutely delicious - malty, coffee, chocolate, roasty, some hops, thick, bourbon, and vinuous. Nicely done! Smooth mouthfeel. Nose was somewhat lacking and thus would have rated the nose higher had it been more aromatic for this style. Other than that downfall, an absolutely delicious porter from my hometown brewery!! Good job!
