grandridge (78), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA May 13, 2008 Pours thick and rich with large tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee and some bittersweet chocolate. Big rich mouthfeel, alcohol not noticable. sweet up front and burnt coffee in the finish. Hops are well balanced with the malt, nothing really dominates in this brew. Skeegle (252), USA May 13, 2008 Alcohol in this beer tastes no more noticeable than in a 5% porter. I didn’t really like that, but only because this is an imperial stout, which I think should have some burn and a bit more zing. The palate was thickened like a heavy beer so that made up for it. A very malty and burnt beer. Not any emphasis on hoppiness at all, but instead of chocolate and cherries. Lots of sweet malt in this one. Really very good. The best word for it is a pleasant beer. dkachur (391), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle from somewhere in North Carolina. Pours dark brown with almost no head. Thick. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, brown sugar and a little smoke. Taste is a little more towards the front of the tongue than I was expecting. This tastes odd to me... kinda like a smoked gouda. But it works. Big chewy mouthfeel. Alcohol is not noticeable. hellsinghtx (31), Denmark May 7, 2008 botlle 50cl: dark beer with a dark brown head, a very strong aroma of chokolate and coffee. its bitter but good. defenetly one of the better beers. brontebeach (14), England May 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a brown carbonated head that thins quickly. Roasted liquorice aroma; magnificently balanced, long liquorice aftertaste.
