Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Goldings Summer Hop Ale is a light-flavoured bitter made with Kentish malt and fresh Goldings hops. Harvested from hop gardens within five miles of the Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham, the beer is almost floral-scented, with a unique biscuity taste.

(Bottled) Clear, deep amber with a medium, firm and lightly lacy head. Woody-nutty-hoppy, not very strong aroma with biscuity malt. Dryish, woody-hoppy flavor with a crisp bitter lemon finish. Light to medium-bodied, somewhat fizzy-carbonated palate with the water feeling pretty hard. As crisply hoppy as the Early Bird, but maybe not quite as refreshing.

Golden brown coloured beer. Fast vanishing white head. Some grass in the nose. Some sourness and lemon in the taste. In the end bite of hops. A nice summer refreshner. 0.5L bottle.

Bottle. Orange/golden color with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, grassy/floral hops and light frutiness. Taste of biscuity malt, toffee, grass, apricot, honey, nuts and light citric notes.

Bottled. Clear pale amber with a low white head. Mellow hop aroma of oranges, grass and metal with lemony accents. Rather fruity flavour of lemon and straw with biscuity and metallic undertones, Medium to light bodied. Nuts, mild lemon, metal and nuts in the finish. Quite decent but certainly not exiting.

Clear bottle, 500 ml, purchased at the LCBO, savoured on December 21 2007; eye: copper, clear, slight effervescence, rather voluminous white head that falls rapidly, lots of lacing; nose: stale, grainy malt, Madeira-like; mouth: stale, grainy malt, Madeira-like, light hops, a bit of cardboard, finale is cardboardy but with a good presence of hops and a bit of malt, mildly bitter, lightly sweet, medium body, a bit thin, quite carbonated, light astringency; overall: so?
