PWalk (328), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 8, 2008 Alot sweeter than what I had expected to be honest. It was tasty with some caramel coming through but overall it was nothing truly noteworthy other that what I wrote down already. Good alchohol burn in the finish but not long lasting. southamptonsam (41), New York, USA May 7, 2008 A bit too sweet and not as balanced as ,say, St Bernardus. But for a Quad out of PA, this is a pretty good Quad. After reading the reviews, I was ready to bring this bottle back and exchange it. Very glad I didn’t. beerbill (1065), Laurel, New York, USA May 2, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights along the edges when held against light. Thin off-white head that faded to a ring after two sips and left very little lace. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, brown sugar and raisins. The flavor is definitely on the sweet side with caramel and brown sugar up front along with some yeast. Not as fruity as the aroma suggests. Strong flavor of alcohol at the finish but no heat from the alcohol. A bit thin at the finish too, although that improves as the beer warms. Numenor (803), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 23, 2008 Old Rating Jan. ’07 -- Dark brownish tan body, no carbonation left. Slight Belgian aroma. Slight syrupy body with a small citurs accent. Thin ending. boto (1178), Granby, Connecticut, USA Apr 18, 2008 750ml bottle: No sound at all as the cork is puled from the bottle. This one pours with absolutely no head whatsoever. This appears to be normal for this one, judging from other ratings. The color is a clear, dark brown. It has maybe a twinge of cherry red in there also. The aroma has a faint sweetness to it. Some raisins, caramel, other dark fruits. It is a bit slick on your tongue. Notes of dark fruits and caramel, as well as hints of breadiness and actually some cherries in the finish. Also a touch of alcohol on the finish. Not bad at all.
