TomDecapolis (2189), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2008 750 ml bottle...not sure of the year...but it’s at least 4 years old or more at the point I opened it. Pours a nice deep brown with a bunch of ruby red notes and a medium bubbly/creamy off white head that left some nice lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, toffee, tobacco, some oxidation setting in, fruity notes, some molasses and Belgian yeast spicy notes. Flavor of mixed dark fruits, caramel, toffee, candi sugar, malty sweetness, clove, nice mix of Belgian yeast esters. This Dubbel held up nicely. The_Captain (149), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 On tap at Stoudts Brewery. Dark brown pour with tan small foam head. Mix of spice and fruits with a nice malty feel. Good texture and body, fresh and smooth with a little bite - some sweetness. Aroma was that of caramel and malt. Flavor was a good fruity/spicy combo with nice balance and a smooth finish. Nice dark amber brown color with small cream head and little lacing. Aroma is very rich, malty and vinous with strong grape notes. Flavor is intensely vinous, sharp fruits, and malty with a light roasty finish. Warming alcohol tingle is nice, but not overwhelming. Excellent vintage beer...found it for $6.99 at Chuck’s in the cooler doors!
