FatTony (71), Augusta, Georgia, USA May 3, 2008 12 ounce bottle- poured out an amber/orange with a medium white head that lasted about half the glass. Aroma was slightly fruity but subtle. Taste had a hint of fruit and caramel, almost like the good parts of an IPA without the drawbacks of bitterness and bite. The brew was full bodied and palatable for an amber ale. I have yet to be disappointed by a Stoudts product. dpjuart (383), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours red with light brown hues. Pillowy, off-white head that contributes some lacing tops this brew. Nose is sweet and fruity with caramel, and slight chocolate. Medium bodied with well balanced malt and hop character. caramel and biscuit character with faint chocolate and roast notes give way to a moderate earthy bitter that rises slowly through the finish and clings to the palate well into the after. moderately dry with some sweet toffee notes battling the bitter well after you’ve taken a drink. I’m a big fan of this brew. It’s drinkable, not overly bitter nor sweet, and is light enough in body to be enjoyed as a session beer. A bit high on the alcohol content for that, but who’s counting. Cheers to Stoudts. changeup45 (453), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2008 This seems like a pretty weak ESB. Color is light brown, maybe some orange in there. Not much head or lacing. Sweet fruity aroma such as oranges or mango. This is an easy drinking beer with pretty good balance but it just seems a little bland. There’s a fruity malt note with some faint bitter hops and a pretty clean finish but the whole thing just seems watered down a little. Overall it’s OK but it’s not a very good ESB. psuCE03 (97), York, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 8, 2008 Nice malt smell to this amber red ale. Great malt flavor with some hops in the end. Great beer. greenleaf (64), Florida, USA Apr 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a minimal head. Smells of light sweet malt. The taste is very simple and unpronounced, primarily noble hops, and not much of them.
