ChainGangGuy (1183), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Apr 22, 2008 Appearance: Pours a pale, reddish-purple body with a foamy, fizzy, white head.
Smell: Tart-smelling aroma of raspberries mixed with a distinct odor of funky cheese.
Taste: Sweet, fruity raspberry taste quickly boards the one-way train to Tartville. Big mouthful of stink cheese. Exceptionally acidic!
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A very fine, very interesting lambic. Good work, Upland! rudolf (1475), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 1, 2008 Thanks to RadioMGB for this one. Pinkish ruby, thin head. Nose is big sweet raspberry, nice acidity to keep it in check. Flavor is raspberry - juicy yet acidic. Reminiscent in ways of raspberry tart but nowhere near as sweet. The acid and wood is somewhat undefined (unrefined?) but nice. This was one of 3 Upland lambics had this weekend and probably my least favorite as a result of the slightly higher residual sweetness. ryan (1600), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Mar 1, 2008 Courtesy of BBB63. Cloudy reddish body with a slight pint tint. The head is medium sized, fizzy and light pink with some fruit chunks pepper throughout it. Sour cheesy nose with horse blanket, lactic acid and lots of raspberries. Sour, dry taste with raspberries and cheese. The malt is dull, flimsy and stale. Medium body is thin with moderate carbonation. Pailhead (2282), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Feb 26, 2008 Courtesy of BBB63
Bottle: The aroma is a combination of fresh sweet raspberries, musty tart raspberries, and a hint of yeast. It pours a cloudy orangish-red with a small pinkish-white head with moderate chunks of raspberry floaties. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet raspberries that quickly turns very tart/sour and acidic in the finish with a hint of oak. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Very tasty and the best of the four in my opinion. xnoxhatex (702), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 22, 2008 Sampled at "An evening with Pantanap #2", wow It really couldn’t get better at this point. Dirty dark red/pink color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is sharp raspberry with sweet malt. Flavor is a good amount of raspberry with sout, tart, intense. Medium body with nice carb and sour body. Intense but almost harsh acidity with nice raspberry, very drinkable.
