Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Sweet caramel nose, with big pine/citrus aroma hop mix. Clear deep gold color, thin head, sticky lace. Caramel, grapefruit. moderate bittering, but lightly sweet in finish. Medium body. On the edge of cloying. A bit heavy and filling. Nice enough.

Bottle from State Line. Golden pour with smallish head. Grainy aroma. Light cereal, grain like malts with a pine and wheat like character. A bit syrupy and sweet and the alcohol is noticeable. Okay.

Bottle from Foodshow in Shibuya. Pours a clear gold with a nice medium-sized head that hangs around for a bit. Aromas of lemon, grapefruit with some light grain. Taste is more of the same with almost saison-like carbonation. Nice spritzy mouthfeel with wonderful pith-like bitterness. Good grapefruit flavor. Nice light bitter finish with some pepper. Very nice.

This ale poured a slightly cloudy, yellow colour with a soapy, white head. Little lacing. Scents include dough, grassy? hops, and corn. First swig was pretty good with citrus hops and hay. Finish is quite bitter with grapefruit hops lingering...

It has a beautiful and almost creamy foam. It is an unfiltered IPA that has a hazy orange glow and its aroma is floral hops with notes of peach / passion fruit. The taste is probably not as IPA-like as one might expect with an American IPA (they love hops in large quantities). It’s rather sweet to slightly peach or pineapple and so it has a moderate hoppy aftertaste which is semi-dry.

A: modest, floral aroma. Pleasant but not very strong. A: F: hard to put words on this. Hops dominate the flavor, with modest bitterness. Some sweetness comes through from the wheat but not much. M: medium, lowish carb. O: didnt really know what to expect. Its more ipa than wheat. Sort of like a session ipa with more body, and a balance more towards sweet. Enjoyable but not something id seek out.

This was my first beer from Lagunitas, and while I've since tried a few more, this is one of my favorites. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
