Pours a deep cola / coffee brown with a frothy tan head about 2 fingers thick. Tons of charred oak, roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor starts off with some creamy chocolate that really coats the tongue. Followed by bittersweet chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. A little smokey on the finish, slight booze, very creamy. This one has a nice dark brown color with a reddish hue and a small amount of carbonation. Aroma starts with classic stick-your-nose-in-the barrel woody, bourbon goodness with roast, vanilla, and burnt cherries. Flavor starts with a big roasty-woodsy taste plus caramel, vanilla, chocolate, more wood and bourbon, and toast. Possibly earthy hops at the end, but not much. The Big sound seems most dominant followed by RIS, but I could be mistaken. Wonderfully complex and a very nice mouthfeel. Another dynamite BA brew from CCB - awesome stuff! creamy, chocolatey, malty and complex, it’s unfortunate that we had to share a 12oz bottle between several of us. It’s a very good beer that I’d like to try again. nickd717 (1344), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Two bottles shared at a tasting. One contributed by Nick3 on BA, and one contributed by none other than myself, courtesy of Sebletitje via trade. Pours a hazy darkest brown color with a nice frothy beige head and some lacing. Aroma is milk, chocolate, roastiness, slight tartness, caramel, bourbon, and wood. Flavor is caramel malt, nuts, chocolate, toffee, vanilla bourbon, and lots of oak barrel on the finish. Bourbon is a little more well integrated relative to Campeador - Fergus Mor, which is a similar blend. Some slightly tart black cherries also make their way into the flavor. Very balanced and smooth on the palate with medium-full body and a good creaminess. Great beer overall. bhensonb (4263), Woodland, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Bottle #322 of 450 from ericandersnavy. No way I can adequately thank you, but I’ll make an effort. Pours opaque black with a three finger dark tan head. Aroma is dark malt, lightlly sour dark fruit, and chocolate. Medium body with frothy, creamy carbonation. Flavor is espresso, chocolate, dark malt, wood, sourish cherry. There is no heat. But my bod says there’s alcohol. Finishes suggestive of chocolate cherry. Bitter dark chocolate. But incredibly smooth. Very pleasing. This is the beer for breakfast. bleeng (597), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA

Nose is chocolately, whiskey, malty, and sweet. Taste is very alcoholic, oaky/whiskey, l, and sweet. Very strong beer. Sticky, full, fluffy body. Delicious flavors and surprisingly easy to drink considering the hugeness of this beer. TomDecapolis (3167), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
