COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We at Nøgne Ø wanted to improve our imperial stout. We soon found that to be a difficult task, as the beer is full of everything. Then we got some fresh Highland Scotch whisky barrels with some help of our friends at Mikkeller and BrewDog. They proved to be the perfect enhancement for this beer. After 3 months of ageing in these barrels, we were quite pleased. We hope you are too!

Bottle thanks to Beer3000 - Thanks Erik. Pour black, with a thin dark brown hue, and a small mocha brown head. Aroma of licorice, roasted coffee, roasted malt, bitter chocolate, Whiskey, barrel, vanilla. Some hay, oatmeal and chilies? Taste is a little bitter, with some sweetness at the end. Oily and semi-thick body, with a flat carb. - I like this one quite a lot more than the regular.

Brown black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Rock candy, coffee, and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate and coffee flavor. Medium bodied and fizzy.

Black in color with a thin layer of tan foam. Intense roasted malt and wood aromas. A decent amount of whiskey followed by heavy char. A hint of chocolate (dark chocolate, to be more precise). The flavor is quite similar to the aroma. Lots of roasted malt and whiskey with strong wood notes. There is a hint of booze and a bit of bitter dark chocolate.

Pours jet black with brown head. Aroma of chocolate jumps right out, with notes of caramel, peat, toffee, and roasted barley. Flavor is surprisingly smooth, and the Scotch notes thankfully do not overpower the classic imperial stout notes. Hints of smoked peat and sweetish malts complement a rich chocolate backbone. Very nice

bottle... black body with one of the darkest tan heads I’ve seen, almost black, thick with a finger cap, thick lacing... thick nose of chocolate, fudge, light char, whiskey, a little black sharpie, smells thick... balanced taste, thought there would be more whiskey, but it really just provides a nice accent, to the thick roasted chocolate, supremely drinkable with a great mouthfeel... this is one of the best scotch ba beers I’ve had, really outstanding

Flaska på ölmässan i Stockholm 2011 Svag doft med tydlig bassängpregel. Smaken är mycket god, men den originale imp stouten är lite bättre. Tydliga brända toner samt choklad, arrak och kaffe.

Bottle at SBWF 2011. It poured a pitch black liquid with a small brown head. Slow moving liquid. Sweet malty with chocolate, coffeee, nuts, whisky and oak. A very very nice Imp stout.

Bottle at SBWF 2011. Black with no head. Very nice beer with a lot of barrel character. Also roasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate and some dark berries. But I must say that I do prefer the original, its more balanced than this one.
