4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Jet black with a nice khaki head. Great retention. Chunky bubbles on the surface. A little bit leggy on the swirl. Intense coffee aroma. Reminds me of Vietnamese Speedway, which shouldn’t surprise me. Slightly fruity coffee notes. Deep chocolate.
Very intense coffee flavor, same slight fruity character as the nose. Nice chocolate and deep roast. Delicious, but very coffee-centric. Chewy. Nice body. Intense bitterness, as much from the coffee as anything. Delicious, but not significantly better than regular Speedway.

I am not sure if the 2011 bottle was too old but I enjoy the regular Speedway Stout over this.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle split between two snifters. Pour was an oily black with a two-finger mocha colored head. Nice lacing, nice legs and solid retention. Aromas are of coffee, chocolate covered cherries, roasted hickory notes and a note of molasses. Taste is incredibly balanced. Loads and loads of coffee hit the palate. Both bitter and sweet notes. Espresso like. Chocolate, anise, dark fruit...an alcohol note, but very well hidden....brown sugar, marshmallow and some roasted nuttiness round the body out. Nice velvety mouthfeel...moderate bitterness and a lingering chocolate note. Great beer!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle thanks to Gibson. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong roast coffee and toasted biscuit. Medium mouth with sweet roast, nice bitterness from the coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, very nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle can’t remember who sent me this...but thanks! Apperance is black with loads of dense mocha head. Aroma is of coffee, ash, black liquorice, and chocolate. Taste is rich coffee roast, black liqourice, and ash. Finishes with a touch of bitter coffee while managing to stay smooth with a lingering bitter aftertaste. I was worried about how this was holding up given I’ve had this bottle for a few years now but man this is tasting great. Really nice balance with the coffee, no hint from the alchlol content, this is exactly what I was in the mood for after a really long day. Excellent!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from a share awhile ago. The thick body pours a jet black into snifters with a very small but defined mocha head. The aroma is a chocolate bomb with cocoa nibs, dark chocolate, coffee beans, monkey shit, vanilla, and roasted malts. The taste is just chocolate goodness, chased by a coffee with slight bitterness. Vanilla and roasted malts hit the palate as well. Serious mouth, very thick and oily. Wonderful.

On tap at Mikkeller bar, San Francisco. Pours pitch black with a very pretty tan head. Aroma is tons of coffee, big roasted malty character and chocolate. Flavor is coffee up front, lots of roasted malts, and chocolate. Full bodied and amazing.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Backlogged rating from the RBSG 2014: Expected color and some head but not much lace, nice oily tears. Big time coffee overtones on both the nose and palate. Heavy roast, char, leather and ashy notes too. A bit herbal however and a major disappointment. Chewy someone dry mouth feel. For all the hype that this beer brought, it failed to meet them. Give me a regular old Speedway over this.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from 750 bottle, thanks Willrunforbeer. Pours dark chocolate with rich brown head. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Taste is smooth and silky, like the Patriots trouncing the Colts 45 to 7. Notes of chocolate, coffee and an exceptional finish. This is a super beer.
