Kopi Luwak Speedway Stout is our award winning year round Speedway Stout with Kopi Luwak Coffee. Considered on of the world’s most expensive and rare coffee varieties, the beans are specifically selected for their ripeness and quality by the civet, a small jungle marsupial that feeds of the fruit of the coffee cherry. Expertly roasted by San Diego’s Ryan Bros. Cofee leads to an extremely aromatic and excetionally smooth final product that complements Speedway Stout exceptionally well! Good to the last Dropping!

750 ml bottle. Cracked open on New Years Eve. Pours an oily, jet black color and topped by a small, frothy, tan colored head of foam that slowly settles into a thin film. Nice streaks of lace coat the glass. The aroma is really nice showing dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, dark fruits, vanilla, and dark roasted malts to make up the base. The coffee doesn’t overpower, but is perfectly integrated with the dark chocolate and malts while adding a nice fruity and nutty undertone. The flavor follows and is a perfect marriage between the dark chocolate, espresso, dark roasted coffee, and malts while a touch of vanilla and toasted nuts helps smooth things out. The coffee roast comes across dry and adds ample balancing bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, and almost chewy on the mouthfeel with balanced carbonation that leads to a smooth roasted coffee finish with no alcohol presence detected. Delicious stuff. This is perfectly balanced, full flavored, and world class imperial stout. Alesmith never seems to disappoint.

February 13, 2016. Bottle.
Black with a small creamy brown head. Aroma is very coffee forward, smooth roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate, light earthy and hints of green peppers. Taste is light to medium sweet, soft roasted bitterness. Finish is sweet caramel, roasted coffee, hints of bitter dark chocolate, licorice, slight earthy. Medium to full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation.
Very good, the green pepper notes drags it down a bit though. More coffee forward than the BA one.

Dark opaque brown, light brown ring. Soft spicy roast if a nose. Initial taste is lean choc, spicy and light smoke. Carbonation is a soft enough buzz and oily, gritty mouthfeel. Finishes rich decadent roast, uncomplex linger and warm spicy jitter.

Pours jet black and opaque with a 2.5 finger, frothy beige head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention for the style and ABV. Large chunks of of soapy lacing coat the glass on the way down. Looks incredible. Deeply roasted dark malt aroma with a perfectly roasted coffee bean presence integrated into the other dark malt notes. Really nutty with hints of hazelnut roast, burnt toast, powdery dark chocolate and espresso bean. There’s also some subtle lactic cream that adds another dimension to the nose. Great roasted coffee presence but it doesn’t completely dominate or overpower the other elements. Very inviting. Chewy full body with a prominent roasted gourmet coffee beam flavor that lingers troughout. Really coffee forward/dominant with lots of dry, bitter roast but it never becomes overly bitter or acrid. The silky chocolate malt notes come in along with lactic cream and roasted nuts in the back end to round things out. Heavy bittersweet dark chocolate flavor that tastes like a 75%+ cacoa chocolate bar with burnt toast and fresh gourmet coffee bean followed by caramel sweetness, toffee, lighter, silky chocolate notes and lactic cream. Really roasty but nicely balanced considering how strong the coffee flavor is. The high ABV is excellently masked with surprisingly no heat at all. The prominent coffee flavor makes a little strong on the roast but this is a really flavorful, well made beer that I enjoyed drinking.
