COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Silva Stout took a lot of patience. We aged our Double Stout in oak bourbon barrels for seventeen months. Flavors are very complex. It starts off with dark chocolate truffles rolled in cocoa powder. Next is the vanilla and wood notes, with rich cherry-like fruitiness. After racking and filtering the ale, we blended in just the right amount of freshly brewed Double Stout to provide the perfect balance of bourbon barrel aging and freshness. Enjoy the culmination of years of flavor development now – no further aging required!

At CBC. Poured deep reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, coconut, roast malt. Full body, flavour as the aroma, light chocolate bitterness.

Bottle from Beaumont Mkt. in Portland. Colour...basic black with a big tan head. Nose...cafe au lair, coffee creme and booze infused vanilla-chocolate truffles. Palate...a chocolatey sharp burst starts things off and then the coffee hits! The coffee is strong but not overtly strong and then the Bourbon notes kick in. There’s plenty of oak, and then a coffee grounds flavour hits. The finish is lengthy, bitter and mildly sweet.

Black with big tan foam. Aroma is Double Stout all over again - lovely caramel, mild bourbon. Taste is ditto but turned up to eleven, caramel toffee lots of vanilla. Yum yum. Medium bodied. Overall great stout - really dig it!

Bottle split with my wife. Pours the part with a thick khaki head. Nose has some coffee. Taste has some vanilla, light smoky oak, mild chocolate and sweetness. Body is slightly thin. Pretty decent over all but perhaps not worth the cash.

The aroma is a bit odd, a little sour, very oaky, chocolate, bourbon. The appearance is deep black, small head. Oily appearance. The flavor is chocolate, oak, vanilla, bourbon, and the slight sour taste. Also a slight burnt taste. Earthy as well. The finish is oak, pine, rost. Nice. Thick, oily, full body. Nice. Just a bit of an odd taste throughout.

Bomber from Eric - thank you! Shared by all on poker night. Black pour. Graham crackers, bourbon, marshmallow. Quite sweet - its a smore! Somewhat disappointing, perhaps it should have been aged more. 14.4
