3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 crosamich (193) - Naples, Florida, USA - MAY 15, 2012
side-by-side with Whisky (white wax) edition. Mouthfeel is a touch sweeter than the Whisky. Similar oily texture and burnt & chocolate notes. Barrel here seemed more mellow and makes for a bit of a better sipper.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbeatty (165) - Washington DC, USA - APR 30, 2012
Bottle, 04/30/2012. Pours black, dense one-finger tan head recedes to crema covering the surface, lacing that won’t go away. Beautiful aroma, sweet chocolate liqueur bread pudding, darker roasted elements, fruity cognac notes well integrated. Taste a little less complex, sweet dark chocolate, cacao and coffee, dark fruits and cognac notes. Palate is thick and viscous, alcohol fairly well-hidden for the strength. My favorite of the series so far.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 GothGargoyle (270) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 19, 2012
Thick dark black with a good chocolate head that leaves behind great lacing. Aroma is incredible - licorice, toffee, dates, wood, cognac, vanilla. Oily mouthfeel with an incredible complexity on the palate - sweet to start, slowly fading to a subtle bitterness on the finish. Taste is raisins, plums, toffee, figs, chocolate, coffee. Amazing beer, good to sit back with and sip.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HenryXXX (60) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 19, 2012
Pours a viscous oily black with a big beige head. The noses has cognac cherries, wood, red fruit, cinnamon, and port. Full body. The flavor is awesome. The flavor starts with sweet cherries and port, followed by smoke, wood and raisin. Finishes with black cherry, coffee and bitter chocolate. Very complex and delicious.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 8/20 Beer3000 (3088) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 20, 2012
375 ml bottle @ Patricks. Black body with a big, creamy brown head. Strong aroma of dark malt, cognac, coffee, molasses and alcohol. Flavor is dominated by cognac and alcohol and feels very sweet. Full body, long and burning hot aftertaste. I don’t find this in harmony at all, too boozy.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 maledictum (541) - Granada, SPAIN - FEB 19, 2012
It pours a jet black colour with a quickly dissipating tan head. The nose is of roasted malt, coffee, varnish, aniseed, liquorice, dark fruits (particularly cherry) and cognac. The taste is full of dark fruits; plum, date, cherry, there is decent alcohol warmth, soy, coffee, dark chocolate, which all leads to a smokey, burnt sugar finish. The palate is complex and there is really good balance between sweet and savoury flavours - good job!
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (4617) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 28, 2011
Medium lasting dark brown head. Opaque black body. Alcoholic
cognac aroma with chocolatey notes. Surprisingly little
complexity. Dry-sweetish chocolatey cognac taste with resiny
earthy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel with faint heat.
Dry nougaty burnt chocolatey aftertaste with cognac and alcohol
notes, as well as resin and mint. Very elegant and drinkable,
despite its vast strength. (0.375l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika,
Oslo.)
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 blafa (505) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - DEC 24, 2011
2010 Bottle from Ölbutikken, at home. Helsingborg, December 2011.
Heavy aroma of chocolate, warming alcohol, barrel notes and some cognac. It’s thick, bold and so Mikkeller like. The taste is smooth with some light carbonation. The alcohol is quite rough but I find it quite nice. Heavy with chocolate, raisins, liquor and some coffee. It’s quite sweet but the high alcohol helps in hiding it. Long aftertaste with cognac and dark chocolate. Nice
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 gramity (593) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 15, 2011
Bottle. Solid black with a large tan head. Aroma was of cognac (surprise!), chocolate, and roasted malts. The taste was a solid imperial stout with a large dose of cognac characteristics. Sweet with some caramel, wood, and alcohol. The finish is sweet with plenty of alcohol.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 reebtogi (2159) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 2, 2011
500ml bottle pours jet black in color with a surprising amount of light brown head which left some thin lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malts and some alcohol and wood. Taste is huge malty sweetness with some roasty bitterness and woodiness and a hint of hops and alcohol as well. This is a massive imperial stout with big bold flavour and is not for everyone, but for the adventurous beer geeks, this is a treasure.
