Bottle split with mcberko. Pours a solid dark brown with a ring of head. Roasted caramel malts, some dark chocolate, cherries. Flavour is the same, including iodine, light smoke and wood. Very rich, full bodied, roasted, really nice.

Pours a 1/2 inch milk chocolate head, body is pitch black. Head retention and lacing were good for style. Smell is full on roasted, charred malts. Some strong coffee and fresh fudge brownies are also there. Hops are not present and a sweet, port like alcohol aroma is detected. Taste is similar to smell, tons of roasted, burnt malts and acidic coffee. Light amount of hops are present, slight oxidation mixed with fig jam ends out the flavors. Beer finishes with a smoky, campfire taste and alittle bit of harsh alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, typical for the style. Beer is well carbonated, head was sustained for a prolonged time, giving some creamy texture to palate. Overall this was a good, classic example of an RIS. Nothing mind blowing, just a very flavorful robust stout. Not a beer worth trading for, but if available locally it would be a solid standby beer.

Pours extremely dark brown with a thick brownish head. Thick and rich on the palate, it has all the roastedness and maltiness you want in a stout without being overpowering. Amazing beer.

Originally reviewed: 11/3/10. 12oz bottle picked up from Total Wine for $2.49. Poured into a snifter. Pours a deep jet-black with a thin mocha-colored head on top. Quickly dissipates to just a ring around the edge. Little-to-no lace sticks around. Big scents of espresso, wine, chocolate, ethanol, and some light wood notes on the finish. The mouth is pretty full and heavy, but there is a harshness to the carbonation that is a little off-putting for the style. Bubbles play on the tongue. Nice roasted character in the flavor. Reminds me of freshly roasted coffee beans. Some semi-sweet baking chocolate, plum, and almond also noted. Well-rounded flavor. This was one of the better beers I’ve had from TD. A good one for the crisp cool evenings upon us. Sit back and enjoy.

12oz bottle. Nice darker brown head. Black color, decent lace. Bubbles on side of glass. Nice light crisp carbonation, dry texture. Very nice dark chocolate aroma, some good light spicy hops. Very good bittersweet aftertaste. No alcohol taste at all. Bitter sweet dark chocolate aftertaste is long enough to last through long gaps between sips. Big body, but lack of any syrupy viscosity makes this a very agreeable texture. Great imperial stout. Reminds me of Bells Expedition..

12oz bottle - pours super dark brown, with dense beige head, and lots of sediment floating around. . Nose is roasted malts and coffee. Flavor adds a piny hoppiness. taste is well balanced and yet distinct between the sweetness and the bitterness. full body with thin to sticky texture. Lots of character and the color of the beer changed to a creamy brown like a latte. This quickly became a sipping beer, wow.! What a nice way to celebrate a Friday!

Bottle pours oily black with small head. Aroma roast, malts, smoke. Taste again roast, malts, chocolate a little coffee, alcohol., Palate medium - I didn’t feel this was as thick as some other did but still decent thickness and pretty carbonated. Finish mostly roast and pleasant. Hint of oakiness although this wasn’t barrel-aged. Alcohol evident but not overwhelming.

Really nice imperial stout, flavors blend together really well although it could have done with a touch more body.

A blast of charred espresso with some chocolate notes that add balance. Beautiful creamy qualities to this with a full body. Truly a superior Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared @ 5 Seasons North. Pours a very dark brown/black with a smaller head, Aroma is toasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee with notes of dark fruits and some booze. Flavor is moderately sweet with similar tastes as in the nose. Very balanced and an excellent impy stout.
