On tap at Hops Northwest in New Westminster. A dark reddish amber beer with generous white head and complex nose. In the mouth it’s wonderfully sweet, citrus, bitter, floral and malty.

Make no mistake, folks. This is a big beer, and I’m not talking about the 9% alcohol rating.

There is so much going on here flavour wise. Everything about the flavour of this beer is big. Big hop bitterness. Big fruity sweetness and big malts. This here’s a winner, folks! 4

I have never had a bad batch of 20 pounder. It is consistent throughout the seasonal release. It is a heavy beer and does sometimes come across that way occasionally when the heavy citrus and pineapple curtain parts, which is seldom. Lacking only slightly in body, this thing has a beatific start only matched by the hoppy finish, which lingers in sweet notes of fruit salad. A favourite in my house.

Bottle, Legacy. Amber, with a bubbly head. Very floral, pears, mangoes and melons. Lean, fruity, with lots of hops, and a nice kiss of sweet pale malt. Quite bright. Less chewy than Fat Tug - go figure.

Bottle (650 ml). From Thomas, thanks!

Appearance: Clear golden-orange with a small persistent white head and little lacing.

Aroma: Burst of fruity hops (tropical fruits, mangoes) along light spiciness, a bit of caramel and light boozy notes.

Taste: Quite malty with citrus, mangoes, resin, leafy hops, light spiciness and medium bitterness.

Palate: Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. A tad oily. Dry finish. Fruity aftertaste.

Overall: A tad too much of the heavy side for me, but another example that Driftwood know how to work with hops. Really nice aroma. Tasty.

Bottle shared by tom10101, thanks a lot Tommy. Pours a clear golden with a really thin... scratch that, no head and no lacing.Nose is of tantalizing fruits, lemons and citrus. Taste is of mangoes, as tropical as it can be and only lightly sweet. Moderately bitter. Body and carbonation were both medium. Overall a really nice surprise, I didn’t expect this one to be as good as it was! I’d buy that over and over again...

ENG: 650ml bottle brought from Vancouver, poured into the Teku glass. Clean, golden color, medium tan head. Citrus, piney aromas, unfortunately some skunky, wet cardboard too. There is quite strong diacethyle taste... I think there is some kind of a infection or bad yeast... Doesn’t tastes too good, but I heard a lot of good stories about this brewery so I assume this must be just a one-time accident. There is no sense in reviewing this beer any longer. Don’t look at the points, I had to put something. Will try it in some time, maybe newer brews will be good.

PL: Butelka 650ml przywieziona z Vancouver, przelana do Teku.

Bottle bb 02/15/12, thanks for this blast from the past Todd! Dank pine and earthy hop aroma. Hazy orange amber, low golden head. Fullbodied sweet, initially, berries, low stickiness though with a broad hop front to cut through: Funny tobacco, lemon drops, pine, dry herbal, almost meaty and earthy finish. Leaves with sparkles on the tongue. The powder did not get wet in the last three years.
