Bam-a-lam! Say no more! This was our first brew of Betty, we all loved her so much she made it into the Core Beaver Beers. Amen.

Lovely aroma, hop hit on the nose as soon as I cracked the bottle open. Then some dark roast smells after pouring. Decent head with a nice caramel colour. Good carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Fruity and roast taste wise, very well balanced ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from Cornelius. Dark dark brown, light cream/tan head. Lovely lacing. Great pine and hops nose. Clean mouthfeel, taste of grapefruit, faint resin, lightly toasted malt. Nice finish with bitter chocolate. Really damn good.

Almost black. Dense and persistent beige head and lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and juniper. Very strong taste along similar lines. A hint of dark cocoa. Round mouthfeel.

This was enjoyed sociably and I wasnít taking notes, but I - and my fellow drinkers - recall it being bloody fantastic; really moreish, really well balanced, complex and refreshing; Iíll be buying more and paying more attention next time. Iíd had two previous Beavertown beers and been underwhelmed, but this dismissed all thoughts that the brewery might be just overhyped Londonist scene shamsters.

Blacky brown color with beige medium-vanishing head. Aroma is intense, hoppy, minty and piny. Taste is incredible with roasted malts, hops, pine and grapefruit. Aftertaste is bitter with chocolate and coffee hints. Outrageous beer.

Bottle pour. Really incredible aroma. Hops and mint. Pours a very dark, cloudy brown. Medium bitterness, nice and hoppy, incredible balance and strong finish. Very good.

Bottle from a cool little bottle shop near Camden that I canít quite remember, into a Teku glass. Lovely off white head, opaque black. Oh yes, straight to taste, sweet, fruity, bitter chocolate, great session beer on a slightly cooler evening. Slight creamy texture, very hoppy and puckering. Demands attentions....very nice.

330ml bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours black with a thick, creamy off-white head. Big hop aromas, pine, citrus, resinous. Light roast. Taste is all about the hops, faint chocolate. Good black IPA for me.

33cl bottle from Cork and Cask. Appearance - opaque black with a slightly off white head which hangs around for a while. Nose - pine and orange with a background chocolate and roast. Taste - orange chocolate. Then creamy chocolate-coconut notes. Then an unrelentless bitter note, like pickled lime goes on for ages. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and the finish is just too bitter for me. Overall - on style, I think it unfortunately doesnít tick all the boxes for me as the nose is not chocolately enough. However, the taste does also deliver some chocolate but then the palate is slightly too bitter for me. Interesting beer but would like it to be more balanced.
