Aroma is a bit boozey, but rich in espresso and heavy roast. This is where it gets tricky... Heavy roast, espresso, dark chocolate, it’s just so rich and silky. Nothing to pick apart, nothing exotic to point out. I enjoyed this thoroughly. boFNjackson (1275), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2009 bottle. Shared this at the Houston RB Tasting in October. Pours black with a nice, tan head. Nose is of coffee and sour chocolate milk. Taste is of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with alcohol noticeable. This one is still too hot. Needs at least another six months of age on it. While decent, I was kinda disappointed. It was not up to the top-50 rating, IMO. ericandersnavy (1055), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2009 Bottle courtesy of MaltOMeal. Dark dark malty aroma with coffee beans. Flavor has a nice chocolate touch that remains decent. Taste has a dark bitter feeling to it without the greatest finish. nickd717 (1344), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2009 2008 bottle via trade thanks to badbeer on BA. Pours jet black and fairly thick with a small tan head and good lacing. Aroma is roast, coffee, licorice, and some dark fruit. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a little anise. Very good and well-balanced. A little on the less sweet side for an imperial stout. Silky smooth on the palate with medium full body and a little alcohol warmth. Pretty drinkable for an imperial stout.
