Bottle that Hennie had in his cellar. Aroma of day old bread. Poured yellow with medium white head that dissipated rapidly. Flavour was mostly blackberry, with a bit of wheat. Almost no finish. Glad they don’t make this any more.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beardface (1480) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUN 22, 2009
Pale yellow pour, big fluffy white head and zero lacing. Aroma is mostly wheat but with a light waft of blackberry. Ditto the flavor, though slightly more berry was present. This was one I didn’t mind drinking back when I was a poor college student and it was very cheap and better than BMC products.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 24, 2007
Poured a clear straw-golden hue with a small white head. Nose of stale malts, wheat, and berries. When Henry’s was legit, this was a super value.
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 jake65 (2095) - Williston, North Dakota, USA - MAR 27, 2006
The blackberry flavor is separated from the rest of the flavors. It seemed as if they were competing against each other. I liked the idea of a blackberry for a fruit beer, but this didn’t work for HW. Nice try though...
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 oldrtybastrd (3228) - Doha, Qatar/Great Falls, Montana, USA - DEC 28, 2005
Pours a hazy golden yellow color. Aromas of wheat bread and berries. Flavor is sweet berry and a little yeasty. Flavor is to sweet for me, didn’t care for this at all.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BrewDad (3384) - Olympia, Washington, USA - SEP 17, 2005
Awesome try at making a truely Northwest beer. Blackberries which is a weed here are perfect. But they just did not have any flavor to this beer. They missed the berry flavor andftoo much malt. But I love the attempt
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Garbbled (24) - Oregon, USA - SEP 9, 2004
Smells like a good fruit beer, but the berry taste seems artificial. It always tempts me if I haven’t had one in a long time, but tasting it reminds me why I haven’t had it in a long time. The appearance is average.
