Pours black with a hint of ruby in light.. no head to speak of, just a dark tan ring.
Scent is heavy roast malt, alcohol, chocolate.
Flavour is smoky chocolate, vanilla, raisin, coffee.
Fairly sweet throughout with a slight bitter finish...
Good one....need to cellar and age some of these for a snowbound night.

Pours a dark black, very thick pour with a paper thin mocha head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate and a vanilla oaky note. I had to check to make sure this wasn’t the bourbon barrel version because it has hints of bourbon. Taste follows the nose, so delicious, heavy but delicious. The nose is intensified with the taste. Mouthfeel is very thick but in a great way. This is a wonderful stout, I will be seeking out this beer!

12 oz bottle via trade from fear025. Pours thick black and sludgy with a small tan head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is molasses, black malt, bitter chocolate and booze. Flavor is strong, dark bitter-sweet chocolate, black coffee, caramel and some alcohol heat. Full body with mild carbonation and a velvety mouth feel. Great Imp Stout, tons of chocolate and roast with a little alcohol kick. Can’t wait to try the BA version. Thanks a lot Jay.

[Thanks to MatSciGuy]. 12fl. oz. bottle. Black colour with a nice formation of tan head that quickly diminishes. Aroma has coffee and toasted malst notes, some red fruits are also present. Initial flavour is smooth, with notes of moka, dark strong coffee and burnt malts. The aftertaste is alcoholic with a decent duration and moderate bittery. Carbonation is flat to medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Bottle at home, from my MTH glass. Pours inky black with a thin tan head and spotty lacing. Nose is very smoky - fudge, tar, mocha, dense salty bacon, creosote... Flavours of smoke, salt, burnt sugar/toasted marshmallow, big tar and molasses, finishes semisweet. A killer brew!

Aroma of bitter dark coffee, chocolate and malt. Pours thick and black with little film. Tastes amazing. Sweet dark chocolate and roast coffee. Very smooth mouthfeel and no hint of the alcohol. Bravo.

Bottle I’ve had aging for a couple of years. Sweet chocolate malt, prune, and vanilla aroma. Black and thick with a minimal brown head and creamy lacing. Sweet chocolate, earthy smoky prune flavor. Smooth, creamy full body. I drank this a couple of years ago when it was fresh, but am just now getting around to rating it. It was a little rough and alcoholic in the beginning. Aging smoothed out the roughness, and now I’m not tasting the alcohol. Very nice. I’m glad I still have one more bottle

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 fletchfighters (76) - AUSTRALIA - MAY 2, 2012
Poured motor oil black. Thin, dark mocha head that becomes a collar of the same color.
Slight amounts of wood, alcohol, soy sauce, heavy roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate, coffee and alcohol in the nose.
Little bits of candied char, candied soy sauce, chocolate, coffee, and green pepper from the hops. (liked that)
Low carbonation and heavy feel, though slightly thinner as drink on. Does get a bit too sweet and syrupy at times but that is ok.
Good RIS
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Smeade (70) - Illinois, USA - APR 23, 2012
S: black, light tan head, big bubbles, good lacing, collar goes quick
A: light aroma, faint burnt chocolate
T: powerful, rich, dark chocolate, malty, dry, a slight alcohol burn
O: solid, not as much going on as I expected, but it's good, it's strong & the burn makes it seem unbalanced, maybe aging would be good for it
