COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
San Diego IPA
The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a short-lived white head the coats most of the glass it is poured in. Aroma is tropical fruit. Taste is a similar peach/mango/tropical fruit combination with a slight bitterness on the finish. Thick mouthfeel. Lovely beer.

First craft IPA I tried about a year ago. Will always be one of the go-to’s even if the recipe has changed. Amazing IPA

Bottle poured a lightly hazed golden hue w/ a medium white head and great lacing. Bold tropical aromas. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of long duration. Tastes are mango, pink grapefruit, tangerine, and light malt. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Found this at a small bar and had no expectations... But wow a really nice IPA with a delicious hoppy flavor. Reminds me a bit of a Lagunitis.

Aroma of citrus hops with grassy floral notes. Very bitter taste balanced by citrus hop flavor. Had bomber with Amanda in garage from beverage world.

Clear amber with a bone white head. Weak nose with notes of mandarin. A two-phased mouth that starts with grassy hops and finishes with citrus. Light body with notably little caramel that’s the scour of most IPAs.

Medium, fresh aroma with sweet fruits, grapefruit and some caramel. Light orange with a it hazy liquid. Minimal white head. Medium/strong taste with fruits (not as sweet as the aroma suggested), peach, citrus, some pine. Also malts and quite a bit of hops. Very balanced with wide taste spectrum and medium, hoppy and malty aftertaste. Medium/light body with medium carbonation. A top-notch, schoolbook-like IPA. Could have a bit stronger taste and more individual character.

mambossa (12) - Cleveland Heights, Ohio, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Poured from bottle. Honey-like gold color with good head retention. Aroma is gentle pine wrapped in sweet tangerine; great balance of earth notes, and sour/sweet fruit. Taste is round, sweet citrus, even apple-y upfront, winds down to an enjoyably hoppy dryness near the end, honeyish malt lingers around to balance it. A bit pricey, but delivers 100% on all fronts.

Shinny clear golden color with golden orange hues and a medium creamy white head. Aroma is watermelon with some passionfruit ad slight piney notes, really nice. Flavor is balanced hoppyness, watermelon and pine with a touch of crisp maltiness. Medium palate. Really solid IPA, hoppy, flavorful and packing a punch.
