Resiny and piney. Rye on the nose. Very hoppy and malt. Caramel backbone. Smooth and silky finish.

2Nd best barley wine I’ve ever had. Can’t go wrong with the Floyd. Like drinking a noir when I love merlot. Flavor’s there, just a little more mellow.

Draught at CBC. Slightly hazy orange, off white head. Aroma of caramel, herbs, peach, grapefruit & citrus. Taste is well balanced bitter & sweet, huge boozy body yet extremely fresh mouthfeel, guess it is the generous amounts of hops. Had one of theese, then one more - and one more. A thirst-quenching barley wine!

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Another American classic passed me by for too long, now finally in my glass. :-) Clear deep orange body, big off-white head. Very nice looking indeed. Aroma is caramel, grassy hops, hints of melon and fresh herbs. Very hoppy, even for an American BW. Taste is melon, grass, pine, caramel, hints of syrupy (DIPA-like) hop tones and bitter herbs. Seems a bit fresh to me. Medium carbonation, rather smooth body. Nice, but vastly overrated IMO.

2012 bottle with red wax. Pours copper color with a whitish head. Aromas are citrus and floral with a hint of malt. Classic American BW aroma. Tastes are big hops with floral and citrus and pine. Also caramel maltiness and a hint of vanilla. delicious all around. Another classic from FFF.

Tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours dark golden with a creamy offwhite head, leaving nice lacings. Aroma of sweet roasty malt, caramel, citrusly hoppy, grapefruit, pine. Taste is sweet malty, caramel, light vanilla, lots of fruity hops, peach, apricot, grapefruit, pine. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, alcohol well hidden.110512

Sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Golden amber with a decent white head that leaves behind some lacing. Aroma is hoppy - pine, apricot, grapefruit. More balanced on the palate than the aroma implies, sweet with a touch of bitter in the aftertaste. Taste is orange marmalade, apricot, peach, pineapple and a touch of resin. Not bad but I prefer my barley wines to weigh a little more on the sweet side.

Deep golden, close to burgundy.slightly off white head clinging to the glass. Relatively clear. Aroma is hoppy floral notes, dates, raisins. Nice. Sweet.. Taste is hoppy at first, but very balanced. Great balance for such a big beer. Malty sweetness comes through briefly, but is fast subdued by the hops. Finish is slightly bitter. Wow what a superbly balanced brew. Body is medium to full and slightly oily. Perfect carbonation in my opinion. Very drinkable for beeing so strong.

07’ bottle shared with my buds Mike and Phil. Still a good amount of malt presence in this one but not that sweet. Hops are still alive and well. Drinking very well.
