Well-balanced, but definitely leans towards the hop. In fact, this may be the hoppiest barley wine I’ve ever had - certainly the driest.

"style-wise this sure seems like an english style. sweet toffee and caramel flavors and aroma, some fruit too. way more than the hops, which were just enough to balance it. very well done. no idea what the vintage was. thanks pfoxyjohn. "

Man how they do this, so rich yet so hoppy, not bitter astringent hoppy but big fruity mango hoppy, then such a big rich malt backbone. Worthy of a 6

2012 red wax. Pours copper with a thin white head. Aroma of big malt, caramel, butterscotch, and maple. Taste is malty with a touch of hop bitterness. This is a malt bomb but in a good way.

Been wanting to try this for a while. Thanks for the bottle, Ray! This hits all the right notes for a barleywine in its aroma and taste. Sweet and robust, with a noticeable hoppy brightness. A very special barleywine.
