3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Plovmand (5711) - Helsinge, DENMARK - FEB 8, 2013
Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium beige head. The aroma is sweet ripe fruity, chocolate, sweet molasses, some roasted malt and toasted caramel. The flavour is roasted and chocolate like with some licorice and ripe fruit. Not very porter like. More like a very dark belgian stout. Very nice though.

22oz bottle, Seattle. Dark brown-black. Dry coffee, dry wood. Souring porter, too sweet for my taste. Off woody flavors. Overdone, strange.

Enjoyed this one. Note that it’s barely in the imperial category, given most craft beer today it’s not too extreme, relatively easy drinking. Pours dark brown with moderate head. Very roasty, nutty, dry hoppy finish. Drinks pretty easy and doesn’t get to heavy at all. Good porter.

September 30, 2011 with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel. bomber c/o blankboy. Nearly opaque reddish brown-black with a fairly large creamy/frothy light brown head. Smells like a porter with more than usual alcohol presence - dry nutty roast, a little gluten and cereal sweetness, some floral bitterness, but not a lot - coffee and baker’s chocolate. Taste follows, more bitterness, and it’s surprisingly gritty and earthy, nowhere near as sweet - and more dark chocolate. Slick, decent body and chewy, mild carbonation, and a slightly burnt/bitter malty finish, fresh-turned earth in the aftertaste (in a good way).
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MadRobin (982) - Silver Spring, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Poured from 22 oz. bottle marked "brewmaster reserve 2011." I aged the bottle for about 9 months.
Opaque, near black with a very thin yellow-brown head and very good lacing.
Aroma of roasted coffee, sweet bourbon, chocolate, roast smokey malt and plums.
Taste of sweet roasted malt, burnt toast, molasses, thick black coffee, plums and grapefruit and other subdued citric hop flavors. Starts sweet and smokey with a slightly tart grapefruit and plum finish.
Medium body and light carbonation.
An interesting beer. Not quite a porter, but not quite a stout either. A sweet, robust, smokey stout with a slightly hoppy finish. I believe this beer benefited greatly from aging as both the bourbon aroma and the hoppy finish seemed to have mellowed and rounded out the beer nicely. I'd like a little more carbonation to improve the head and the mouthfeel, but still a quite enjoyable quaff.

--From a bomber it pours a deep brown/black with a tan head. While the aroma is sweet malt and a hint of dried dark fruit, the taste is a chocolate bomb! There is also a dark dried fruit note present. (UDBEERNUT & his wife are right…plums. Oh yeah!) Wonderful combination! The mouthfeel is full, rich and smooth. Hop bitterness and carbination are held to a minimum. Excellent porter! Will buy and drink again.

31st October 2009 Post Borefts I Invasion of Fonefan and Charlottes room tasting! Opaque black porter. Good carbonation and a semi dry palate. Rich dark malt, slightly toasty and a somewhat bitter. An interesting contrast to the high carbonation! Finishes crisp!

Oil black hue with small head. Roasted nose with booze on the edges. My wife says she detects plum. I agree. Big malty sweet body with balance coming from both hop bitterness and smoke. Still leans to the sweat side of the scale. Flowery hop does linger a bit on the finish.
