RedSox2004 (165), Pacific Palisades, California, USA Sep 7, 2008 Dark dark brown, opaque, with a wonderful thick creamy medium brown head and significant lacing. Strong bittersweet chocolate aromas dominate the nose, but you can find some espresso there as well. Taste is also all chocolate, but not sweet - more like the bitterness of a dark chocolate Wilbur Bud. Roasted malts are also evident, and just a touch of hops to round out the great overall taste. Full body, medium carbonation, and a clean dry aftertaste. I would understand if this is not someone’s ideal specialty beer, but it’s right down my alley, and I love it. CaryTheDude (194), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 7, 2008 Let’s keep drinkin tonight, Jakebra. It’s like staring into the eye of a duck billed platypus. Meaning, it’s dark, might have a beak, and tastes like some beautiful milk of heaven with chocolates, plus beer. chrisafari (84), Orange, California, USA Sep 6, 2008 Aroma of semi-sweet milk chocolate (like chocolate milk) with subtle malt. Pours light opaque brown, no head. Flavor begins bitter and watery, finishes with slight sweet chocolate. Never again, was really disappointed in this one. Chrism86 (81), Melbourne, Australia Sep 6, 2008 Pours dark dark brown with substanital dark tan coloured head. Aromas of dry coco and vanilla dominate. Palate is rich and viscous with hazelnut, chocolate and some dry coffee roast. Caramel/honeycombe malt supports well to make way for a roasty finish. JackMehoff (18), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Sep 5, 2008 Quite the tasty chocolate stout! I absolutely loved the aroma and the appearance, and actually admired it while I did work throughout the early afternoon. Rich chocolate flavor without overdoing it. Another fine brew. Rogue we salute you!
