375ml bottle @Paul’s Gathering. Black pour with some head. It’s nice to see how good this beer can be with proper carbonation. Great texture, bunch of flavors that go together well. Aging brings beer together.

Bottle courtesy of Mar. Pours dark brown with no head. This one is definitely flat. Aroma is a combination of roasted malts and bourbon, with maybe come chocolate and caramel mixed in. The flavor is lots of bourbon, oak and vanilla with some alcohol, roasted malt and chocolate/coffee. A very complex flavor. The mouthfeel is hurt by the fact the beer is flat as a pancake. Still, it is pretty drinkable and a good beer overall. I think it would be better with proper carbonation.

Sweet malty aroma with toffee and vanilla notes and just a bit of bourbon. No hop character and no off flavors that I could detect. Reddish brown, dark but not completely opaque. I got some of the yeast mixed in so I can’t get a good read on clarity. Good level of carbonation, a tan head that lasts and is easily regenerated and good lacing on the glass. Sweet malty toffee and vanilla and a hint of bitterness. Medium to full bodied and sticky with a long warming finish. I like a lot. It’s got a great level of complexity and I really enjoy the aroma and flavor. It was a pleasure to drink on an evening that’s clear as a bell and cold as hell!

Bottle for rating #2800:   Heavy caramel, deep and dark, somewhat muddy, moderate to large frothy beige head, enjoyable lacing.   Subtle woody nose, soft bourbon, vanilla, raisin, molasses, and graham cracker.   Sweet caramel flavors up front, warming but not alcoholic.   Bourbon and wood characters are more noticeable on the tongue than on the nose.   Not as heavy as I thought, a little spritzy even.   Caramel and toffee notes dominate the backside.   Very little hop bitterness.   Not overly malty either.   Fairly sweet, fairly tasty.   Could stand to be a little bit heavier.   Some minor ash or charred wood on the exit.   Plenty interesting, just wished for more of a viscous mouthfeel versus spritzy.   Yeah, this one seemed carbonated enough.   Tasty!

2008 Bottle from theisti shared with my b-i-l and nephew. Pours murky brown, some floaties, no head whatsoever. Nose is bourbon and a little toasty caramel, raisins and dates. Flavor is the nose - first the bourbon, then some more pronounced sweetness of raisins and brown sugar. Alcohol heat finishes. Mouthfeel/Palate - as noted many hundreds of times, it was utterly flat. IME - the flavors weren’t enough to overcome this - it was hard to drink for me, and the flatness accentuated the alcohol and slight astringency. There was enough good stuff going on to save it from the drain, but not a good effort from LA.

Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma has a big nose of bourbon and malt. Tastes of vanilla, wood, bourbon, dried fruit, the finish has a bit of toast on it. Super smooth texture and the alcohol will sneak up on you.
