Dango (11), Snekkersten, Denmark Oct 9, 2008 Had this at the European Beer Festival in copenhagen. Wonderfully smooth bitter but also sweet cup of coffee. Uncarbonated and perfectly still. Ole_R (1304), Oslo, Norway Oct 5, 2008 Cask@EBF 2008. Opaque black, low choco head. A beautiful refined coffee aroma mixed with roasted dark malts, licorice and cocoa. Taste is complex and rounded with coffee in the lead, supported by roasted malts, cocoa, and bitterness from the coffee and the hops. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Medium to full body. An excellent beer. larsniclas (3034), Gothenburg, Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Sampled at EBF08.
Pitch black. no head.
Soft and smooth with coffee, chocolate and cocoa.
Some vanilla and spicies. Bitter. asheft (963), Marburg, Germany Oct 1, 2008 [on cask at EBF 2008]
Gentle oaky aroma with some vanilla and a touch of dry sherry and cinnamon. Surprisingly, no poo in the nose. Very black and with no head. Sharp, dry black malt flavour with some nutmeg and other Christmassy spices. Bitter coffee--too thin and dry for my taste. A bit astringent very low carbonation, medium to light body. tarjei (1300), Bryne, Norway Sep 29, 2008 Tap at EBF 2008, Copenhagen. The color is black. Lovely brown head. Aroma is a fantastic balance of exclusive coffee and roasted malt. The flavor is coffee all the way. Also lots of bitterness and maybe dark, dried fruits. It´s just amazing. Not extreme, just lovely.
