Commercial Description:
The Latin name for hops is Humulus Lupulus, and when we decided to brew an ultra hoppy Double IPA to celebrate the brewery’s anniversary, Humulus Ludicrous was born. Pale two-row, crystal and Munich malts form the firm malt base with thick, nutty flavours. We add a stupid amount of Centennial and Cascade hops during the brewing process and finish with running the sweet hot wort though a hopback (stuffed with more hops) on its way to the fermenting vessel. But, we’re not done yet! Three separate dryhop additions take place as we move the brew through to the aging tanks. The result is a beer with unrivalled grapefruit and orange rind aromas with a bittersweet malt finish. 100 IBU

Bottle via trade with piscator34. Hazy amber with a good sized white head. Aroma of toasted malt, pineapple, grapefruit and resin. Medium mouthfeel. Big, warm flavour with lots of grapefruit and pine, some tropical fruit, and a decent maltiness to back things up. A solid IIPA, a pleasure to drink.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-amber body with a soapy, medium-sized, white creamy head. Aroma has fresh pineapple, grapefruit, cookie dough, and toast. Alcohol is noticeable up front. Very hoppy as well with a yeasty component, some apricts, and leafy fruit. Very good and sufficiently balanced.

Bottle courtesy of Greg Clow, thank you sir! Hazy blood orange pour is capped off with an off white frothy cap, that lasts. Pine needle and grapefruit fill the nose, leafy fresh hops, lemon drops with cookie dough as well. Lemon and grapefruit pack a punch up front in the mouth with piney hops, cookie dough and a nice biscuit discernment. Quite bitter and astringent. Well balanced with perfect attenuation. Very well made. Thanks a lot Greg!

Bottle from trade with Piscator34. This is my ideal beer. pine hops dominate the nose, lite notes of citrus and something else i cant finger. Poured a hazy orange with minimal head. Some carbonation bubbles. Lots of hoppy goodness in the flavor obviously. Notes again of citrus and even more hops. Nice smooth bitterness to finish this off. Much better fresh out of the fridge, got kind of gross as it warmed.
