daknole (299), Plantation, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Bottle thanks to robinvboyer. And a big thanks...this is a really great imp stout. Nice dark black pour with a decent sized head. Aromas are raisins, chocolate, sweet coffee, malt, and candy sugar. Flavors are sweet, balanced and really nice. I taste some super sweet raisins, sweet malt, and the alchohol is not even noticeable on the tongue. Jan Primus (145), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2008 Not a bad stout but I question if this should be classified as "imperial". Roasty malts and a creamy body without the sweetness I expect from an imperial...not too shabby. Blasphemies (29), Ontario, Canada May 8, 2008 Well, ya I’m not a stout guy. Feel bad rating it as stout drinkers obviously like it a lot. Bottle. I won’t say too much. To me it had a sour bittery taste with obvious burnt flavours. I think the "sour" turned me off. Maybe after more stouts I’ll appreciate it more, retry and re-rate. after4ever (1566), Brier, Washington, USA May 7, 2008 Stubby. Thanks, Glouglouburp! Gotta love that stubby--really takes the air out of the american marketing tendencies that surround this beer style. Black with a dense, creamy dark tan head that falls quickly away to a light foam, leaving decent stalagmites of lace. Big sharp sour coffee nose, almost pungent. Plenty of charcoal, sweet roasty malt, and hints of chocolate in there as well. Rich creamy body, with coffee, roast, char, and a bit of liquorice on the mid-palate. Not much alcohol bite. Long sour coffee finish. This is one of the better coffee bombs I have had, but coffee bombs aren’t an everyday thing for me (even given my love for goliathly huge stouts). douglas88 (471), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle thanks to Robin. Pours dark black with a small beige head making a circle around the glass. The aroma is roasted malts and some coffee. The taste was dominated by a smooth chocolate and bitter coffee bean along with a rich roasted malt. It was a bit bitter and overall quite good. A nice Imperial Stout. Also, the 341 ml bottle was cool. Like a grenade.
