Bottle@UDRM. Tnx JBrus! Aroma is full with fruity and dusty, sweetish Unibroue yeast. Hazy, brown coloured beer with an off-white, medium head. The taste is sweet and has peach, aprikots, aples and dust. Some spice and raisiny malts. Bit dry in the end.

pours a slightly hazy medium to dark mud brown with a 3-4 finger creamy beige head that fades to 1 finger after a few minutes and holds pretty well there. Aroma is full of dark fruits, apples, an almost oak like vanilla note, toffee, light roast, cherry cordial, white chocolate, licorice, big floral notes and a little ethanol. Flavor is roast, dark fruits, vanilla, an odd salty blood note, not really strong, but a little disconcerting, stale licorice, black pepper, overripe apples, light mineral notes about halfway through, lots of earth and sweet musty notes, a hint of maple, and some sweet tobacco. Finishes a little salty, a little cardboard coming through, more tobacco and dark fruit. Palate is pretty thin for a 10% brew, light and creamy for a second leading into a dry, lightly fizzy middle and even more dry finish. Not bad, not as good as some of Unibrou’s, it has a few strange, off flavors, but I still enjoyed it alot. Oh yeah, that bloody taste mostly went away after a couple of sips but left the salty portion, strange.

Bottled. Clear orange brown color, medium off-white head. Aroma of yeast, spices, bit raisin, malty. Barley wine, but yeasty and spicy, and with typical unibroue touch.

Bottele @ tasting by jbrus. a little hazy, light brown colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of fruits like raisins and apples. There is vanilla and yeast. The taste is fruity sweet with a little bitter and some spices. The aftertaste is bitter and fruity.

75cl bottle that has been sitting at 41st Ave. Liquors forever. For some reason, I figured I would give it a try after all this time. My first impression upon tasting this is that it tastes like Unibroue. Their house yeast is just too distinctive to think otherwise. It works pretty well in this case though. The color is a darker brown with an almost purple hue and a fizzy head that has some size at first, dies, and then settles into a lasting slick with some lace. yeast chunks also abound after a less-than-perfectly-neat pour. Brown sugar, plum, cinnamon, rosemary; the aroma is really what I want to call "brightly fruity" with some herbal spice in there too. Sure, there is a more liquorous dried fruit quality, but generic berry with a light strawberry hint and some passion fruit are there too. As much as I get out of the nose, the flavor seems to be more straightforward, with a sweet fruitiness and drying alcohol in good balance. Spices seem to be giving a lot here as well; but who knows how much of that is the yeast. I want to say rosemary, but I think that is just what is on my mind. There is a woody dryness and some tobacco in the finish, with light bitterness and vaguely muted hop flavor that is more of a token than anything meaningful. The body is on the light side, with typical Unibroue fizz and a healthy alcohol bite that dries out the tongue and helps scrape the residual sugars from the palate. As much as there is in this that I want to scrutinize, namely the spice and roughness, this is a really interesting beer that manages to come together in a pretty drinkable package.

Poured from 750, darker brown with reddish hue and creamy tan head. Nose of bananas. raisins, yeast, and bread. Very thick feeling in the mouth, almost like a milkshake. Spicy and malty with a smooth finish.

Don’t get me wrong; this is not a bad beer. This is a hazy brown beer with a fizzy feel to it. Has a smell of over ripe fruit and a somewhat pungent taste of raisins. I would much rather have this than most any other grocery store beer. I just wouldn’t call it outstanding. It is a good beer for the price point.
