Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Nov 6, 2009 750ml bottle graciously shared by BOLTZ7555 – thanks J! Pours hazy brown with a foamy 2 finger tan head. The nose is citrus hops, oats and malt. The taste is citrus, sour rye, floral hops and malt. Lots of hops in this one. Medium bodied. Interesting beer. Thanks again Jason! adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 5, 2009 750 ml bottle. Pours a dark maple brown with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is malty with hints of faint chocolate, cola, rye and citrus. Taste of cocoa, malts, oats, pine and light citrus. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Nov 5, 2009 Bottle (s) by RealPoser...thanks Jordan!!! Obviously a lot going on here...just wish it reflected in aroma or flavor. Dark murky river water pour with a large caramel colored head that left some lacing. Fairly faint aroma that displays cocoa, brown sugar, and pine. Lots of sweet malt here accompanied by rye but, for some reason, just doesn’t light up the taste buds. Good beer but not great. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 4, 2009 Attractive rich dark brown pour with tan voluminous head that fades quickly. Nose is composed of dark sweet malt, pine, chocolate, and smoke. The flavors are a mix of chocolate, sharp rye bite, pine, citrusy hops, licorice, and a weird sour tartness in the very finish, which made me question the bottling line sanitation. OK, but nothing I’d seek out again. Thanks muchly to my FS mugclub buddy Adam, once again! FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Nov 4, 2009 750 ml shared at the recent Mug Club tapping (Flossmoor, IL) courtesy of either Beerlando or fishingnet. Thanks to my Florida homeboys! Pours a nice thick murky dark brown with some ruby bits, a nice light brownish head that dies to a nice film, laces ok. Aromas are a bit smokey and roasted malts, sweet, and well hopped, a bit of a muttled conglomeration. Citrus, pine, rye, sweet and roasty malts. Initial is a bit full bodied, sweet with rye and roast, a bit of smoke, caramel, a nice hopping that dies a slow painful death. Licorice, a bit of bitterness largely floral, brown sugar, rye, and roasty and caramel malts. Almost a touch of salty smoke on the palate, a bit acidic almost on the backend. This beer is muttled overall, tasty, but muttled borderline messy. Cheers. shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Oct 31, 2009 bottle from mcbackus- thanks Matt! Pours a deep brown with a big fluffy tan head. good head retention and great lace. Aroma of pine, orangepeel, medicine, mellon, some nuttyness. Flavor is citrusy hops, rye, chocolate, toast. silky smooth mouthfeel, good body. creamy body. Nice! Phillies2008Champs (26), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle picked up at Capone’s. Pours like syrup but less viscous in the glass. The nose is fruity and full of roasted brown malt like chewy caramel candy. First sip strog brown malt but creamy with terrifc body. Finishes with perfect balance of hops. Very Unique. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Oct 29, 2009 Bottle bottle! Wow thanks! Very hoppy early boil bitterness. Brown black color. Very dry. Kind of weird flavor.. Decent carbonation. The dryness almost eludes to a hint of sourness or astrigency. Maybe some melanoidins. This beer is a mess. Not my favorite.
