Botnik (102), Carrollton, Texas, USA Oct 20, 2009 On tap at an Irish pub surrounded by Guinness drinkers. Not quite as much suds, but more of everything else. Great pub, great music, great brew. zizzybalubba (338), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA Sep 27, 2009 Sampled at GABF 2009. Very dark brown, to black, pour. Coffee aroma with a hint of clove. Decent coffee flavor. Overall, not bad, but lacks a bit for an Imperial Stout. petematte46 (212), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 25, 2009 Pint in Houston. dark poor with a small off white head. Smells of chocolate and coffee. Taste was pretty much the same with a little toasted malt. Not bad Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 19, 2009 Gigerman Fort Worth. Thick, nice aroma, good beer. Tap handle is a hatchet handle. Ha. fly (1331), austin, Tejas, USA Jul 25, 2009 Pretty darn solid stout. Why a stout from Houston (okay, Conroe)? Because they hope it will make the humidity go away and encourage cold fronts. roasty, slight hint of alcohol, but overall well balanced and needing to go into can production. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Jul 7, 2009 Super deep brown beer with an active, thin tan head. Delicious vanilla, tofee aroma. Upon first taste, this is a delicious beer. The flavor has a smooth toasty malt backbone followed by an immediate coffee prescents and finished with a small amout of balancing hops. The 9% is nowhere to be found. This beer has a very light syrup body and very mild carbonation. The bitterness comes out a little better to finish this stout as the evening wears on. Mutualaid (136), Texas, USA May 30, 2009 On tap @ the brewery:
Pours very dark but not quite black as the light betrays a deep garnet red; nice creamy head rides atop the liquid. Aromas of toffee, roasting coffee and dark molasses with no appreciable hop bouquet. A malt sweetness like brown sugar, though not at all cloying immediately followed by just enough hop bitterness to balance. Finishes very clean. Full body. I generally do not care for stouts but this one is exactly what I look for in a dark beer. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Apr 13, 2009 on tap at freetail. pitch black pour with a thin off white ring of froth. nose is dark chocolate, maple syrup and roasted malts. very nice on the palate with chocolate in the front and coffee and roasted malts in the finish. very nice stout and i’m glad to see more impy stouts coming from TX.
