Ola Dubh (or "Black Oil") is so named because it is gloopy and viscous. This limited release has been matured in casks from Orkney’s award-winning Highland Park distillery to add complimentary whisky notes to what is already an amazing brew. It is chocolatey with a roasty, bittersweet aftertaste. Special Reserve 18, whisky notes: Highland Park 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky was named Best Spirit in the World by F. Paul Pacult; it offers toffee sweetness, almond nuttiness and a prolonged, smoky aftertaste.

Flesje van molen beershop. Zwart. Bruine kraag. Geproefd na de 12. 12 is lekkerder, want wat zoeter en daardoor voller qua smaak. Blijft een geweldig bier.

Bottle. Teku glass. Pitch black with minimal, light brown head. Poor lacing and head retention. Intense aroma of dark fruits - pulms and rasins, in the second raw vanilla aroma. Also medium woody, peated and smokey notes. The smell is really complex, rich and fresh. Taste is rather sweet with slightly bitter and salty notes. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, finish is semi-sweet with little alcohol warming. In overall rich and comples beer. Perfectly balanced and highly drinkable.

Pours dark brown with a shortlived tan head. Aromas of sweet roasted malts and whisky. Tastes chocolate, dried fruit, bitter coffee, with quite a pronounced peat aftertaste. I’d almost think I’d been drinking whisky actually. My only complaint is that it’s a bit thin...

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2015 Bottle @ Elfo’s Pub, Perugia, Italy. Pours with a pitch black colour, classic heqvy stout; no foam on top. Aroma is very rich, with distinct notes of whisky; fruit; roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is quite sweet, very little bitter; great! Heavy palate, creamy texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle, pours black with a beige head. Aroma: peat, wood, chocolate, ash. Taste: roast, chocolate, peat, ash, vanilla, blueberries, yoghurt. Medium sweet and balancing bitterness, creamy texture, getting a bit thin in the warming finish. Well balanced, lovely.

Bottle - pours black with a very dark brown fizzy head which quickly fades to a ring. Aroma of peaty whisky, a little antiseptic, some smoke and hints of cocoa. Taste of peat, smoke, cocoa and earthy malts with some vanilla and paprika. Medium body, medium carbonation. A tasty treat, but the body is a little thin which lets it down a little.

0.33 bottle. Insanely dark brown color, (recognizable from black due to light diffraction on the edges), and a medium, brownish head. Strong aroma of roast, dark malts, chocolate, wood, and a sting of whiskey. Taste is very malty, fantastically smoky, prominently chocolaty, and wonderfully balanced. Medium to full body, veritably thick texture, and flat carbonation. Finish is a tad fruitier but also more whiskey-induced. Overall a splendid beer, inherently smacking of high quality whiskey but at the same time at no point is it alcoholic or irritating; certainly worthy of a wholehearted recommendation.
