Marin Brewing Company is proud to announce the release of a very special and very limited brew,"Cuvee Roge." Named after our longtime manager/bartender, Roge, this beer has been several years in the making. Cuvee Roge is an American Sour Ale inspired by the Gueze Lambics produced near Brussels in Belgium.
Cuvee Roge is a blend of brews, some 1 year old, & some 3 1/2 years old. Both were aged in the same special Chardonnay barrel with a variety of "bugs" (microorganisms) commonly thought to be beer "spoilers." One month ago we blended & bottled the Cuvee, adding sugar & fresh yeast to create a bottle conditioned product. Only 264 champagne style bottles, 750mL each, were produced which will only be available at Marin Brewing Company, & only for on-premise consumption.
Cuvee Roge is a refreshing & moderately sour beer with a complex array of aromas & flavors ranging from citrus to barnyard with wine-like qualities & a dry, nutty finish.
