Free State Walloon Gold

Brewer: Free State Brewing Company
Style: Belgian Ale - Pale / Golden / Single
Alcohol Content: N/A
Seasonal: No

Description:
This Belgian Golden Ale is medium bodied and deep gold in color. Despite its relative heft, a high carbonation level achieved via a secondary fermentation leaves a lighter impression on the palette. Flaked wheat was used in the mash to soften the mouthfeel, while subtle spicing from Coriander Seed and Black Pepper complement the spicy elements contributed by the Belgian yeast. The overall spicy character of this brew is characteristic of the Belgian Ales of Wallonia, the generally French speaking region of Belgium, from which this yeast originates. (Some residents of Wallonia use Walloon as a second language, hence the name.) Hops really are here mainly to contribute bitterness, with a modest addition of spicy Czech Saaz hops to complement the malt and yeast characters. The Bottom Line: A medium bodied, deep gold, spicy Belgian Ale of medium strength. Unfiltered. 13.95P/1.056, 24 IBUs
