Description:
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
A malty 4.2% ABV bitter which is chestnut in colour with a slightly nutty hint. Hops balance the maltiness to provide a well rounded best bitter. Tavistock Estate is built on the site of the Cotterell Brickworks. Looking at Old Maps shows the brickworks were built some time between 1882 and 1899. The clay soil was ideal for making bricks and the pond that sits on the corner of Stanlake Lane and Ruscombe Lane was probably created when clay was extracted. During the Second World War, brickmaking was not a priority so the brickworks closed in 1939 and never reopened.
