David Yarrington, from America’s Smuttynose Brewery, has travelled to Wadworth Brewery, in Wiltshire, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival, taking its name from the way in which George W Bush pronounces ‘American’. This is a light mild, blending elements of Belgian, British and German brewing cultures, giving a malt profile which balances the sweet and bitter orange peel and citrus aromas, from the German hops – all superbly melded together by the British yeast used.
