Tiny Benifontaine (pop. 272) owes its name "good fountain" to the quality of the local water. Artisan Brasserie Castelain has produced classic Bieres de Gardes here since 1926. GRAND CRU is their richest, most full bodied version of this classic French style. Delicately hopped and accentuating the nutty sweetness of the local Pas de Calais malt, it is delicious with roast chicken, country sausages and assertively flavored cheeses.
