Description:
According to the ancient Maya the current 13th baktun cycle of 5,126 years will end as a new one begins on this years’ winter solstice, December 21, 2012. What better way to celebrate than with a strong beer made with a very unusual ingredient: chanterelle mushrooms? The Mayan name, Ki’ Chun reflects this, meaning “tasty start.
We know you’d rather be hunkered in your bunkers waiting for the end to come, but we’d like to encourage everyone to step out out and celebrate this cosmic event on Friday, December 21. Would you really want to let the world-as-we-know-it end without ever having a sip of this nectar of the gods?
Ki’ Chun blends the apricot perfume of chanterelles with three malts and toasted oats, all tied together by the exotic fruitiness of New Zealand Rakau hops, accented by a Belgian yeast strain. Dark Thai palm sugar lightens the body a bit and makes this 9.5 % alc/vol beer dangerously drinkable, dry and creamy.
