A double-decoction batch of our first Lager beer, inspired by a handful of gentlemen that are pictured in a vintage photo at the Rock Island Public House in Blue Island, IL sipping from 10 oz. footed glasses, the darkness of the beers reminds of the Germanic settlement in that city in the late 1800s, and the numerous breweries then in town fermenting and aging in caves along the ridge spanning Blue Island – the photo says they are enjoying a brew with Bock-ian roots.
