n Friday (tomorrow) at 3PM, I will be at Piccadilly Circus/Green Park, jumping on the Bakerloo to get back to Heathrow. But I have one hour to spare...

Any idea where I can get a couple nice new rates either in Mayfair, along the Bakerloo or at the airport?

Much appreciated.

Terminal 4 has a JD Wetherspoon to the very far right before checkin, after checking it’s rather thin with chances for ticks

Terminal 5 has a decent JD Wetherspoon as the base level to the far left after security check - there is a bar on same level at the same end that may have stuff like Becks Vier.

DonMagi 5599:50 Piccadilly to covent garden aint far, you’ve got the nags head right outside the station and then the porterhouse is you feel like venturing a wee bit further. An hour isnt alot of time so you may be best just going with Jaspers recommendations and hitting the spoons at the airport. 11/5/2009 3:27:53 AM

There is a Wetherspoon’s, a Fuller’s and a Young’s in Hammersmith within a few minutes walk from the Tube. The ’spoons usually has some rare stuff on.

Easier to tackle Heathrow with a few pints under your belt...

Many thanks all. I like the Hammersmith suggestion because it’s on the way, unlike Covent Garden (where there is that excellent Cornwall pub and the rowdy Porterhouse).

Do you have any directions to the 3 pubs in Hammersmith or names that I can find on RB, or is it just obvious as I exit the tube stop?

Thanks also for the Heathrow information. Will definitely look out for those pubs there.

Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin

I did these last month

The Fullers pub is still being renovated. The William Morris is no more than 60 seconds from the tube, the Young’s a 5 min walk

And the Plough and Harrow is another few minutes, but they often have a great range of beers. You can then turn the corner into Ravenscourt Park station and get on the District line in either direction to get back on the Piccadilly line. 11/5/2009 7:10:54 AM

It turned out that Hammersmith was out of the way as I was using the Heathrow express to get back. Fortunately there were two good (Fullers and S Neame) pubs in Mayfair, a nice one upstairs at Paddington staion and I really liked the Wetherspoons in Heathrow Terminal 4. In all I got about 12 cask rates in 90 minutes. Will upload them tonight. Many thanks for the help! 11/7/2009 12:15:47 AM

The Mad Bishop & Bear at Paddington, its Fullers, but certainly quite nice when you have a spare 20 mins.

Yes, it is quite decent for a station bar. If you have a bit more than 20 minutes around Paddington, the Victoria in Strathearn Place - another Fullers pub - is a nice place.
