I was in a local pub yesterday lunchtime and watched three brewery lorries deliver: Salopian, Enville and Carlsberg.

The landlord hates the Carlsberg blokes: he claimed they were useless and hadn’t a clue.

Made me laugh and I thought I’d share it on here!

Im curious as to what made them bad?

You dont get many breweries that will provide a Darymans service anymore, so he’s luck they’ll even put the beer in his cellar!

I think they mess his order up every week and the truck is loaded in such a way that they can’t find what he wants without half unloading it: that’s how it looked out the window. The landlord wasn’t happy and I left him alone to his barely ’under the breath swearing and cursing’ (F...ing Idiots being the cleanest expletives I picked up).

I have always found draymen to be great, moving barrels I couldn’t dream of moving. Putting the barrels in the correct place in the cellar. My part was to make sure the emptys were all in one place to go. And A drink on the house goes far. They used to alternate each delivery who would have a beer and who would have a lemonade to drive. Strong guys.

Did 3 years delivering for Mordue. Hard, heavy work, but good fun. I was always more than happy to rack up in a cellar for anyone who asked (previous pub management experience helped!) and saw some absolute horror shows of cellars, in terms of cleanliness.....
