| sic1314 (33), Leiden, Netherlands | | April 22, 2012 What used to be a pretty excellent beer outlet has slowly but surely deteriorated significantly since becoming owned by Belhaven / Greene King. Now more of a restaurant with food than a bar. | | Leighton (226), London, England | | February 18, 2012 A cozy pub at the head of Union Street, directly across the street from The Archibald Simpson - a rather nice one-two punch, I must say. On my visit they had five available cask ales of a maximum nine, I think. The two that I had (a golden ale and a stout) were in good form and pretty decent. The pub itself is, as I said, cozy, with plenty of table seating, a handful of bar stools and low ceilings. Good prices, friendly bartenders. Many of the patrons were eating solid food on my visit, but I stuck to liquids. If you’re in Aberdeen there’s really no reason not to visit here. Less than a ten minute walk from BrewDog, too. | | Scopey (150), Croydon, England | | July 19, 2011 [ Updated January 23, 2012 ] Blackfriars is a traditional spilt-level pub located on Aberdeen’s Castlegate. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and cosy. Nine cask ales on offer, which are displayed on a chalk board next to the bar. The beers are pretty much always Scottish and constantly rotate. Beer condition is usually spot on. The food is traditional pub fare, but made with fresh ingredients and well executed. A very pleasant place to spend the afternoon drinking well kept Scottish ale. | | Bryne (153), , Norway | | March 20, 2011 A pub on two levels, with bars on both levels.Good pub food served daily, quiz night and free Wi-Fi. Friendly atmosphere. The guest cask ale this evening was Kelburn Goldihops. (Visited March 11th 2011) | | fobar (10), Søgne, Norway | | September 21, 2010 Pub had 6 beers on hand-pumped cask. What the employees lacked in beer-knowledge the locals filled in. The servants were pleasant and helpful. The food were served quickly and tasted well.
A pub with British traditional looks and food. |
