9 reviews for Colonial Spirits
jimhilt (7), Bow, New Hampshire does not count - explanation | | October 25, 2009 One of the best selections in New England, I think they have over 800 beers. Tim is their beer guy and is always helpful with recent additions. Prices are competitive. Very easy to spend over $100 on beer. Most beer is along the back row and on the left side as you go in. | gameface23 (8), Haverhill, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | September 18, 2008 I went there because I heard a few weeks ago that they had Alesmith Speedway and Stone Double Bastard. Sadly, they didn’t have either when I stopped in. They did, however, have the second most impressive selection I’ve seen in the area (after Julio’s). There prices seemed more expensive than most places I have been to, but they allowed any 6 pack to be broken up to singles, which I loved. | | desurfer (77), Pinellas Park, Florida | | September 3, 2006 What a place! All kinds of good beer, with America and Belgium well represented. Stone, Moylans, etc. To top it all, they have Alesmith! After 3.5 years on Ratebeer I finally got my hands on Yulesmith, Old Numbskull and the others. Nice discount on singles too. I may never be in Massachusetts again, but if I am then this will be a place to return to. | | GonZoBeeR (20), ste-Eulalie, Quebec | | May 9, 2006 This a good place with a lot of good selection...good belgian beer selection.A lot of big beer from usa are there"ale smith, avery, beer republic ect..."And a lot of beer a refregirate..Good service, the boss reponse to all our question..... | | fbennett (23), Lowell, Massachusetts | | January 23, 2006 My wife found this place on her way to trader joes in the area. Unbelievable!! First of all the parking is very good, being that it is in Acton the traffic isn’t bad. Secondly they have a recycling center there which is great to bring your old beer bottles to "discount" or off-set the .05 bottle charge. Now lets get to the selections OMG one of the most extensive selections I’ve ever seen. From just about every region I can think of Belgium, US, CAN, Italy, Germany, France, etc. And the prices are very resonable...I tried Midas Touch for the first time from Colonial unable to get at my local package store in Waltham at the time. Colonial is a def must for those looking for a variety of brews at a good price. Also they sell mixed 6 packs for 10% off as well as a mixed 12 pack for 15%.
| | fluids (29), | | July 3, 2005 Tim is an excelltent source for trying new things. Experience with all Belgian beers, Micro, English and wines. They are always on the look out for the unusual and have a true passion for beer. I highly recommend going. You will find things you didn’t expect. You can break sixs into singles for tasting. | | OldGrowth (107), North Carolina | | July 2, 2005 Finally got around to visiting. Good size store, looks fairly new. Clean. Met Ryan the beer & retail ops manager. We chatted for a while about things. Thought he said it was about 700 different brews. Nice coolers with easy walk in. Another staff member helped go through some boxes so I could get some singles. 10% off mix and match six packs 20% off case of the same. Nice place, worth a visit and worth going out of your way for. A great store. | | CaptainCougar (139), Rockville, Maryland | | February 5, 2005 A nice, clean, well organized store with a great selection, and best of all, you could get everything in singles if you wanted. Got a 20% discount for buying two mix and matched cases, so that was nice too. Guess I’m lucky they didn’t card me (and I always get carded), because from what Clark says, they probably would’ve denied the sale with my Wisconsin ID. | | ClarkVV (90), Allston, Massachusetts | | December 2, 2004 [ Updated February 23, 2007 ] This was the best place to buy beer (selection wise) that I had ever come across (premier gourmet and this are very close) in my humble opinion. Great lambic selection, really great local selection and a ton of English beers, more here than I’ve seen anywhere in the U.S. Good prices, singles on anything and a large section of coolers. Good amount of rare beers and special releases from Victory, DFH, Stone, etc. . . However, these assholes used to sell to me and then decided to start not selling to me on account of my Michigan license. Ok, fair enough, I’ll bring my passport. Nope, "passports are legal identification in Massachusetts, but we choose not to take them here." says the owner. So I had a Passport, a Michigan License and Michigan License plate on my car, I’m buying lambics, but I guess the owner was still afraid I’m underage. . . What a shithead. |
